Vija Celmins is well known for her photo-based drawings and paintings of nature. The way to re-describe the physical world is to understand human consciousness in relation to lived experience.  She said: “There aren't really rules for painting, but there's certain facts and fictions about painting. Part of what I do is document another surface and sort of translate it. They're like translations, and then part of it is fiction, which is invention.” (ART21 Magazine)
How do they look different from a photograph? Do you think people will look at and respond to the works in a different way than they do on documentary photographs?

Arno Beck

O. T., handwritten typewriter drawing on Japan-paper, 31,5 x 31,5 cm, 2018 Textmode (Mountain), 2017 Installation View German Artist Arno Beck uses an old fashioned manual typewriter to do his works. The glitchy arithmetic digital images are combining by the typewriter's index of letters and symbols. The typewriter drawings present the transformation of digital imagery to a physical pictorial space through a typewriter. In the artist statement from his website, he claims that "I am driven by the search for an analog translation of digital imagery. I utilize this printing method as a means of producing paintings in a wider sense."  This is one of the ways to bring the digital image into the physical world. Zhou's embroidery work  Embroider (Verb) is defined as "Decorate (cloth) by sewing patterns on it with thread" (Oxford Dictionary) The origin of embroidery is unclear, one of the explanation is that in ancient times, people believed in nature provided the foundation of our growth, and we must respect all the things in nature. Therefore, our ancestors used the sun, the moon, the stars, the trees, and the ferocious animals as clan totems, and tattooed on the body.
